Jones' Jogging Club

Coach and Woodfin's physical education teacher Forrest Jones coaches a group of 3rd and 4th grade boys every Thursday after school.  When the group first meets they talk about health, nutrition, and physical fitness. Each boy sets a running goal that they want to reach by the end of the year.  After the boys stretch and do warm-ups, they move on to the main focus of distance running.

After running, the group comes back together to cool down and re-stretch. During this time, the boys and Coach Jones talk about the importance of cooling down after exercise, stretching and how the body works and functions during this entire process.  The objective is for each boy to reach their running goal by the end of they year and for each boy to learn and understand the importance of exercise, good diet, and how to incorporate that knowledge into an active and healthy life.

By the spring semester the group hopes to be ready to run in our school's annual Read wRite & Run 5k.  More information will be given about that when the time gets closer.

If you would like to join, you will need to talk to Coach Jones and have a signed
Permission Slip.
