Special
Services offers an array of support services to the regular education
program at Woodfin Elementary. Services include the following:
consulting on referrals and interventions for at risk students,
implementing specially designed curriculum for students who qualify,
administering daily testing modifications for students who qualify, and
suggesting support techniques for students in their regular education
classrooms. These services are given via a tiered intervention team with
school staff, regular meetings with parents, inclusion in the regular
education classroom with regular education teacher, resource pull-out
program for students and regular meetings with regular education
teachers.
Direct
Instruction Programs that are given in the resource pull-out program
include the following: Investigations, Number Worlds, Kathy Richardson
Developing Number Concepts, Wilson Reading Program, Fundations, Fountas and Pinnell Leveled Literacy Intervention and online resources such as Mobymax. Supplemental materials are also used based on individual student needs.
